Visibility!
The key to bicycle safety on the roads is to be visible from all directions. This can be accomplished by front and rear lights. Visibility can be increased by having front, rear, and side reflectors on your bike. Reflective clothing can be worn to turn your entire body into a reflector visible from all directions. See laws section for specific requirements for lights and reflectors.

Predictability!
The second most important thing to promote bicycle safety on the roads is to be predictable. Follow all the rules of the road, which includes stopping at stop sign and red lights. Use hand signals to let motorist know your intentions. Ride single file when riding in a group and stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
